When Do You Get Up and Go To Bed?

Hi All, Are you an early bird or a late bird? Are you a night owl or a ... um ... night sleeper? Lol? I'm a fairly early bird, usually get up around 7 AM or so, except for school when I get up at like 6 because I have to be there at like 7:30. No actually I think I have to get up at about 5:30 to get all washed up and dressed and fed and brushed (teeth and hair and rubbish) and then catch my carpool and get to school on time. Or, if I've had a really tiring night, I'll sleep in. Or if i just need my rest. Or sometimes I'll lie in bed and listen to a book-on-tape or a book-on-CD. I usually go to bed fairly late, not really late, but like elevenish. What do you all do? Caitlin

Usually on school days I get up around 6-15 a.m and go to bed around 9, but I'm a major insomniac. And I love to sleep late on weekends.

Post 3 by Caitlin (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 26-Dec-2004 16:47:36

Lol. SOmetimes I'm insomniatic. like, if I'm hyper or thinking about something really hard, I just can't fall asleep. But it's really random, and I can't get up and play because I'd like get busted. So I jsut have to stay in bed and hold it out. I remember the night before first grade, I stayed up all night literally. I was so excited about bringing my lunchbox to school. I actually got up at two in teh morning and asked my mom if she'd packed my lunch yet. Lol!

I go to bed at one in the morning, and sometimes I get up around ten or after, but sometimes if I wake up earlier, I get up then. I wish I could stay up 24 7, and think sleep is one of mother natures' nuisances, but just something in life that has to be born out.

See, the thign with me is I like to sleep once I'm there, but then when I get up I don't want to be up, I want to sleep more. And when I'm up, I don't want to go to sleep! Lol!

How early I get up usually depends on when I go to bed. But over all, I'm early both at night and in the morning. That is, I go to bed early, but I also get up early. And when I do go to bed late, I still get up early. And about wanting or not wanting to sleep, I'm usually ready for bed at night. Then in the morning, I either don't want to get up in the morning, or else I will explode if I don't get up. But when I don't want to get up, and I eventually do, I am over my not-wanting-to-get-upness fairly quickly.

Yep, D, you're a weirdo. Just joking. Heheh. Anyway, I've always said you were a kind of insomniac ish type person. But whatever...

I get up at like 4:50, just cuz' I'm usually oken up at that time, by the cell, and at night... usually um, 10:30, to 11:00.

Post 11 by medical queen (This site is so "educational") on Friday, 04-Feb-2005 22:59:36

I guess you can call me a night hawk. Since I always chill out on here I don't go to bed until 2 or 3 sometimes 4 in the morning, cause I'm so busy trying to get the most anagrams. Before I came here I used to go to bed early. And when I was in school, I had to get up at 6, so at night when it comes time for me to hit the sack I don't wanna sleep. But then when 6:00 AM reaches the clock I don't wanna get my butt up. So now that I'm out of school, I go to bed really really late and I don't get up until 11 or 12 mid day. Sometimes I would get restless and would wake up at 7, depends if I have the energy. But if I don't have the energy, forget it!

I don't like going to bed either but once I'm there I don't want to wake up. On school nights I go to bed between 10 and 11 and wake up at 5:30. On the weekends I stay up to whenever and wake up whenever.

Post 13 by Heavy Metal Girl 85 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Tuesday, 22-Feb-2005 8:12:48

well as for me I go to bed at 2 in the morning and get up at 11:00 in the morning. Well on the days a have to work I get up at seven and go to sleep at 2:00 AM. I don't know what it is , but I like to be under blankets. yeah I also take naps when I just got up Like on my days off and on weekends I get up at 11:00 AM. and find myself back under the blankets at 1:30 PM and don't get up from my nap until like 4:00 or 5:00 PM, then I stay up until 2:00 AM and the whole cycle starts all over again lol.

I go to bed and wake up depending on how early I have class the next day. I'm one of those people who loves and requires quite a bit of sleep, so I probably go to sleep earlier than the average college student. I can't sleep quite frequently, so that just makes me more tired, and apt to go to bed early.

Well, at the moment, I go to bed any time between 11.00 PM and 2.00 AM, but mum has a go at me for waking her when I tiptoe to my room cause she's suck a light sleeper, but that'll have to change when I go to work. I usually sleep for anything between 6 and 10 hours a night, so if say, tonight, I went to bed at 11.00 which I think I'm going to do, I'd wake up at between 5 AM and 9 AM. I'd get up at 9 AM though.

I'm a nocturnal person as well and enjoy the night time hours. I usually go to bed around 4 or 5 A.M. and wake up around 12 or 1 in the afternoon.

I used to be a night owl, but ever since I started work, I'm up between 6:30 and 7. Even on the weekends! So i go to sleep early, between 9:30 and 10. I wake up though several times during the night. So I don't get steady deep sleep.

Post 21 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Sunday, 15-Apr-2007 3:40:06

Boy, what a diversity of bedtimes wake-up times.

When I worked, I was in bed by ten thirty or eleven because I had to get up by five thirty or six the next morning. I didn't always go to sleep, though, as that was my reading time, and, if I had a really good book, I might not go to sleep until two or three. I had a rule, though, that if I was still awake and reading by three, I turned out the book, because it was tough to work on less than two hours sleep.

Now that I'm retired I wake when I want to and sleep when I want to. Sometimes I'm up all night here on the zone or reading, but I might go to sleep for a couple of hours at ten a.m. and another short nap about seven p.m.

But, like I say, it's mainly wake up when I want to and sleep when and how often I want to. I love it. But, it plays havoc when I have to deal with the rest of the world.

Well, I've always been a night person, and I really got off schedule when my husband was sick. Now that he's passed on, I'm really off. Never know when I'm going to bed, or when I'll get up unless I have something I have to get up for.

Post 23 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Sunday, 15-Jul-2007 10:45:24

okay, I can't really go to bed or wake up when i feel like it, because, since I got my guide dog, Steven, I don't want to screw up his schedule that they set for him at the school. I only tweak it when necessary.

Well, when I get my dog, I'm not moving out of my pit till I get a wet nose in my face, same when I have children. I'm not going anywhere till they scream. No way am I a morning person unless I absolutely have to be, lollol.

I get up at six in the morning, and i sleep at eleven at night. That goes for the whole school year, but there are some exceptions, if i have more work to do, i usually sleep later than expected.

Same here. I could zonk in the wee small hours and then e woken by mum bringing in a cup of coffee, usually between 10 AM and 12 PM and she's saying "I think it's time you were up now". When I'm at College though, I obviously don't have mum banging in to my room waking me up, so I have to rely on the alarm clock or my phone to tell me its' 7 AM and time to move myself out of my pit in to the shower, lollol.

I get up between half past 6 and 7 o'clock both at home and at college. I go to bed probably about half past 9 or 10 o'clock when I'm at home because Mum doesn't like me staying up too late. When I'm at college, I go to bed any time from about 11 o'clock at night.

I have all different hours for going to bed. But I've been trying lately to keep it within 10-12 and have been doing better. When my boyfriend comes over though, it's more like 2-3 in the morning! lol As for getting up, I always get up at around nine to take my birth control pill and then I might stay awake or go back to sleep for an hour or two depending on how tired I am.

Post 32 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Sunday, 06-Jan-2008 12:35:05

on a regular schedule now. I get up at around eight or so, and go to bed at around eleven. When school starts, I know I'll have to be up at seven with the dog, and so I don't miss my ride.

Post 33 by SFAIdol (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Monday, 14-Jan-2008 17:35:33

It depends on whether I am in school or not. This semester, since my sleep schedule depends on what time my classes r, on Monday's Wednesdays, and Fridays, I'm getting up at 7:30, since my first class starts at nine, and I leave at least thirty minutes before to make sure I get there on time. On Thuesdays and Thursdays, since my first class has always started at eleven, I sleep much later and get up at 9:30 am. Some days, I get up earlier if I have work or studying for a test to do, since I am more of a morning person. However, on weekdays, I stay up until eleven at the earliest, two at the latest. On weekends and holidays, I am up at between nine and ten and stay up later until I feel like going to bed. I don't like to sleep too late, or I'll feel like laying in bed all day.

I'm trying to schedule my bedtime and wake-up time, although it doesn't always work out like it's supposed to. But my thing is that I want to go to bed by 11, and wake up at 5 or 6 on weekdays and 6 or 7 on weekends. The wake-up time usually happens and I usually feel totally awake when I get up. But towards the later hours of the day, I end up dozing off, and that turns into a cycle of when I do that, I don't sleep well at night. I never know how to fix that (not including pills which I don't want to use for that). But yeah, I'm trying to make my sleep time a regular thing because I don't like falling asleep during the day, especially if it's for close to or more than an hour.

Post 39 by DevilishAnthony (Just go on and agree with me. You know you want to.) on Thursday, 07-Aug-2008 7:17:09

I have one of those drifting sleep patterns. I wouldn't say i'm an insomniac. When I'm tired, I have no trouble going to sleep, but my body just isn't always tired at the same times every day or night. Seems like I stay up just a little later each day, until eventually I'm staying up part of the night, then eventually staying up all night... If my sleep pattern is at a good point, I try to keep it there for a while. Right now, I go to bed at around 9:00 and get up around 4:30, and to me, this is great. This is when I feel the best and have the most energy. I don't know how long it will last though.

Post 40 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Friday, 08-Aug-2008 14:55:47

I'm more or less back on a normal sleeping schedule. I sleep at around nine or so, and wake up at anywhere between 6:30 and seven in the morning to feed and relieve my dog. let's hope it stays this consistent when I go back to school, starting next month.

I usually sleep with the radio on. Mum got me this pillowtalk speaker thing for Christmas 2006. It's like an oval flattish thing with a base boost and volume switch on the side with a very very long lead and 3.5 mm headphone jack on the other end which plugs in to your radio. You just slip it under your pillow so you can listen to the radio without waking anyone else, but it saves strangling yourself wearing headphones. A life saver when I try and sleep without my laptop switched on.

Depending what I do my sleep varies. For instance, I was up once on Miriani till 5 30 in the morning...on a school day. yeah...never doing that again. I made it through, but felt like crap when I got home. Usualy now that's its summer, I go to bed round 2 or so, and wake up round 10 in the morning. When school starts up again, it'll probably be go to bed round 9 and wake up around 5 30. Mike.
